07. Quarter-Life Crisis..

..is right on track.

Today, on impulse.. I purchased a BB Bold 9700 package that basically has me tied down for 24-months.

That's two years.

I know, what was I thinking.

I blame this on the event last nite - I had to do live-tweets from this concert for a client..and my Nokia E71 was just not cutting it. It left me flustered as hell (that coupled with the really sucky Wi-Fi) and so today when I saw the Celcom booth at another client event, I thought.."IT'S A SSSSIIIIGGNN"..and "ok I'll just go and ask some questions". I left an hour later with THAT contract.

IDK, I'm kinda excited.. I feel all grown up now that I'll have to pay a monthly bill.. but my dad seems pretty pissed that I'd spend that much for a phone. I figure though that since I'm a resident social-media 'expert' (for the record, this is according to Siva, not me!) that I gotta get my act together, right? I mean, what does Daddy know about ephemeral fleeting tweeting? Nowt, that's what!

And also, I reckon since I live with my parents and don't have to pay rent or food like most other young adults, I SHOULD have enough money each month to pay for a goddang phone. I mean, lets start off small right? You know...learn the value of money, appreciate things more by getting it with your own sweat and tears etcetera, etcetera?

Gah who am I kidding. Just another pathetic sucker of consumerism.

06: Chariot of the Gods

Had an interesting convo with SS over lunch today and he recommended I read Chariot of the Gods by Erich von Däniken.

Chariots of the Gods? Unsolved Mysteries of the Past is a book written in
1968 by Erich von Däniken. It involves the hypothesis that the technologies and
religions of many ancient civilizations were given to them by space travelers
who were welcomed as gods. These ideas have been largely rejected by historians
and scientists.
- Wikipedia
SS is convinced that 'God' is an alien, and that we're all part of some experiment gone wrong.

Also, ever wonder why the Lord Vishnu is blue in colour? I KNOW RIGHT!?
Love it. Deffo need to read more on the matter. I is intrigued.

05: There comes a time in life when you have to let go of all the pointless drama & the people who create it & surround yourself with people who make you laugh so hard that you forget the bad and focus solely on the good. After all, life is too short to be anything but happy.

03: Up in the Air

Last night, Amal and I checked out the 2nd Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2010.

Putrajaya at night never ceases to amaze me.

We went at around 8.30pm to catch the Night Glow show (they lighted up the hot air balloons) and the fireworks display.

We saw the Darth Vader hot air balloon which was super cool!

Tried to get a ride on one of the balloons but apparently tickets were already sold out. Oh well. There's always next year!

All in all, I had a really nice time..Night walks + fireworks & lights = LOVE!

02:To Ipoh & back in less than 24 hours..

I had to leave work early on Friday. Got news that my Uncle Y was hospitalized and was scheduled for an op due to a subdural haematoma (bloodclot) in Ipoh. So we rushed over, and saw him. He was conscious, apparently he could recognize us..but other than that he had a bout of amnesia, his right leg was unable to move and from what we could make out of his speech, he said that his head felt empty.

What was sad was seeing my Aunt N after, and how she was trying so hard not to show her sadness or pain. And when her children and her siblings discussed how she should consider moving to KL (because there'd be no one to look after them there), she just started talking to her grandchildren instead.

Uncle Y for as long as I've known him, has always been a really sweet, sweet guy. Never once saw him raise his voice, or look angry. And Aunt N has always been the feisty, garang one. To me, their relationship is what I've always envisioned a perfect marriage to be - a lot of give and take, both knowing exactly what their role in the relationship was..a perfect symbiotic pairing. Of course I'm speaking from an outsider's perceived perspective, and I can't say I know for sure that they've not had their fair share of problems.

But looking at them yesterday, reminded me of The Old Man and The Sea when Hemingway explained how Marlin's mate for life. And when the Old Man caught the female Marlin and brought her on to the boat, the male Marlin kept leaping out of the water to see what was happening to her on the boat and witnessed her bludgeoning death.

Yeah, I know I'm not making much sense right now.. my thoughts are kinda all over the place but what I do know is that I probably had the best thing going for me and I pushed it away. I had my Marlin, but perhaps sometimes ..just being the biggest, handsomest prized-catch in the ocean doesn't necessarily mean it'll make the tastiest dish, does it?

Maybe I need to start catching smaller fish.

Pet Peeve #2

People who take the lift/elevator to go up or down ONE floor so everyone else in the lift has to wait for your lazy ass while the lift makes an extra unnecessary stop at your floor.

Like you'd rather wait 10 fucking minutes for the lift, instead of just taking a flight of stairs up? Fuckin fatty.

Only in Malaysia. Only in Malaysia.
